I'm an hour and a half up the coast from you. All I need is one good tug on my loose floor and we can both show our invisible trailers in Buellton. I'm glad I got to see this photo. I knew something was a miss way back when you were asking how to repair this floor. I knew it couldn't have been built that way from the factory and had no idea how large the "repair" was. That's the most ridiculous thing I have ever seen. it's basically an interior door with the skin removed. I'd really like to know the rest of the story but I suppose that will never happen. It is totally ridiculous, but its not just the rear...the whole floor is built that way (I peeled the 1/4" skin on the back to inspect ). In spite of the fact that I've never seen another floor like it, I'm pretty confident its original....other than a few cosmetic things, this trailer hasn't been repaired or even maintained ever. I'm just the lucky beneficiary of some designer a little too clever and a company a little too cheap for their own good. I'll lift the floor this weekend and post it in my thread so you can see how insubstantial the frame is as well.

Very hard to believe it's anything but a home built.

Hi, So, I was thinking today, why can't you show up at a trailer rally with just your frame? Trailers show up at rallies in various states of restoration. I was thinking, so why couldn't you show up with the frame. I can prove that my frame is a '57 Westerner. I have the registration and the VIN is visible on the frame. It came to mind because I am in the frame off position and working on the frame and floor for the next few months. Just putting it out there for discussion. Cheers Rod I'm known for bringing unfinished and unrestored trailers to rallies. But this would be the tops... I'd do it. Maybe you could rent a tear drop and put it on top. LOL.. Well, Larry, I kind of did what you recommended. Beer me. 1957 Westerner Tent Trailer - One of a kind... Glamping items: The toaster came foraged from an old breadloaf trailer and the 60's webbed seats came from my parents. The checkered table cloth was cheap buy on Etsy. The awning was from my 85 Starcraft pop up that was made by Marti. I tossed it on an easy-up to give it that vintage glamping look. Cheers, Friends. Rod

Oh that's just too much.. What were people saying about your set up? Hey Larry, When I arrived late in the afternoon, I pulled up in front of my space and there was a small group of older men, all with grey hair. (I am 55 and will soon be amongst them, but not for a while, LOL) They all turn together when they realize something is missing. They start laughing. I roll down the window. Here it comes: "Hey, you lost part of your trailer." I play dumb and pretend I didn't notice the body was missing. I respond with, " It was there when left." Then I get things like, "Hey where's the rest of your trailer?" It was funny. Most people walked by at open house, but some came up to me to ask about it. I had made a poster with 30 pictures for people to see the progress. That brought in some people, but they just kind of asked general questions. One guy came up and said, "Hey a 1957 Tent trailer". I used that the remainder of the stay. I was not, however, the first one to do this. Someone mentioned someone at another rally who showed up with just the frame and then build a body out of cardboard. Cheers, Rod
